AMS Announces Amanda T. Bulian, MBA, as Testifying Expert, Specializing in Surveys for Trademark Infringement and False Advertising Matters

Applied Marketing Science, Inc. (AMS), a leading-edge market research and consulting firm, is pleased to announce that Senior Manager Amanda T. Bulian has joined the firm’s expanding network of testifying survey experts within the Litigation Support practice. Bulian, with the support of AMS, will provide expert witness testimony in complex litigation involving survey evidence, with a focus on matters related to intellectual property, false and deceptive advertising, and class actions.

Bulian leverages her extensive expertise in designing and executing consumer surveys to address trademark and trade dress matters including likelihood of confusion, secondary meaning, and genericness, in addition to assessing consumer perceptions and the materiality of allegedly deceptive advertising claims. She also provides expert research consultation and rebuttal critiques for consumer survey evidence in federal and state civil litigation matters and cases brought to the National Advertising Division (NAD).

“We are thrilled that Amanda has joined the AMS network of testifying survey experts,” said Jason Och, Principal at AMS and leader of the firm’s Litigation Support practice. “Her successful track record collaborating with some of the nation’s top litigation survey experts has uniquely prepared her to tackle a wide range of IP, false advertising, and class-action litigation across diverse industries. Amanda thoughtfully combines academic rigor with real-world problem solving to ensure that our clients receive robust, case-relevant survey evidence.”

Bulian is a member of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR), the Insights Association, the International Trademark Association (INTA), and Women in Research (WIRe). Her previous experience includes working in global brand management for Suntory Global Spirits, where she managed consumer insights, product innovation, brand performance and strategy, and creation of brand marketing plans.

Bulian holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where she was awarded the Kilts Center for Marketing Award for Academic Excellence and graduated with honors. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology with minors in statistics and economics from Connecticut College.

AMS has over 30 years of experience conducting consumer litigation surveys for complex legal matters. Consumer surveys can be critical pieces of evidence in high-stakes litigation—but only when conducted with scientific rigor, carefully analyzed and supported by clear, authoritative expert testimony. Our decades of experience, methodical approach and expert understanding of the litigation process have helped us consistently deliver outstanding results for our clients. The AMS network of talented litigation survey research experts have expertise in areas such as consumer behavior, social psychology, advertising, branding, marketing strategy, economics, content analysis, and other related areas.
